Some interesting places to visit.

The beautiful Lac de Guerlédan, one of the largest artificial lakes in Brittany, is around a 15 minute drive away. Nautical sports enthusiasts will enjoy this place as you can go, water skiing, or paddle canoes, or hire pedal boats. It is also the point of embarkation for a cruise aboard the "Duke of Guerlédan" to discover the lake. There are lovely beaches here too and an opportunity for swimming.
At the edge of the canal from Nantes to Brest, the ruins of the Abbey of Bon-Repos stand majestically, dominating the place and the neighbouring forest of Quénécan. It is a great place for walking and picnicking. L'Abbaye de Bon Repos is open every day from 10 am to 7 pm There are guided tours every day in July and August at 15:30 and 16:30.

The site of the Forges des Salles is a testimony of the working life in the iron and steel industry in the 18th and 19th centuries. The former iron and steel village has been exceptionally well preserved, with it's industrial installations, the house of the ironmaster, worker and foreman's quarters, canteen, school, chapel, gardens are all available to explore. In July and August it is open daily from 14h to 18h 30.

The Nantes to Brest canal is a peaceful way to venture into the heart of authentic Brittany. It is a picturesque place and is perfect for walking or cycling, you'll find many parking places and picnic tables along the canal.

Gouarec is a small nearby village and is very pretty with all it's flowers. It has a few resturants and bars and can be easily reached from the canal.
Quimper has a beautiful cathedral and has lots of cobbled squares and medieval architecture. There are many shops and restaurants here and it is a fantastic place to visit.
Concarneau has a quaint walled town which is well worth a visit, inside the walls you will find lots of shops and bars and it is a popular place with tourists. The harbour here is also picturesque.
Dinan is a pretty medieval town with some beautiful buildings. It has a wide choice of shops and restaurants.
Locronan is well worth a visit, it is a beautiful place and the main town does not allow cars so it's brilliant to wander around and explore. Here you will find many artisan and craft shops. (there is a large car park nearby and a parking ticket, which costs a few euros will allow visits for the whole year).

Around a 40 minute drive away you will find the impressive Vallee des Saints. This is free to enter and features around 1000 stone carved statues. They have all been constructed by Breton artisans working on site and on many days you'll be able to see one of the stones being carved. The place also has a small gift shop, resturant and picnic tables and is open 365 days a year with no closing time to see the statues. I'd recommend making a picnic and taking some sensible shoes and enjoy a wander around this lovely site before stopping to eat.
